Jerry The Toucan
327 Fillmore Street, San Francisco, CA
Lower Haight, you have a new mural in the ‘hood! Meet Jerry the Toucan.
Reflecting back on this now, with the 60th Anniversary of The Grateful Dead being celebrated while I painted this over the weekend, I guess I could've put a jazz cigarette in his beak. LOL! But that's not really my style. I prefer my public art to be suitable for all ages - yadda, yadda, yadda - you get a colorful, happy toucan.
A round of high fives and acknowledgments are in order to the Lower Haight Merchants Association for the commission, Cafe International, for their proper art direction, as well as, coordinating with the owner and, last but not least, Acme Floral for the ladder (of which saved my tail feathers).
As you can see, it takes a village to beautify the neighborhood. With all the negative news and the divisive climate we live in today, it's moments like this that feeds my soul to see thoughtful people come together for the betterment of the community. This is the world I want to live in.
