As many of you know, music plays an important part of my life. Its been there for me during the best and worst times. Its my medicine.
Last year in May, feeling inspired by my relationship with music, I resurrected an old music monthly called Directions In Stereo, hosted at the community inclusive 540 Bar. I'm really glad I did because its been super fun to share music in a public setting again. I've made new friends and reconnected with some old ones, too.
At the turn of the new year, I did some reflecting and found that I really wanted to get out of this helpless feeling I was having – the "I want to change the world but our problems are so big it feels impossible" feeling. You know the one? So, after a dry January into February, I listened to my intuition, as well as, took some advice from my good friend music to "Get Up, Get into It, Get Involved" like James Brown.
Inspired by the idea of doing things that bring me joy, ultimately taking care of myself, I can then take care of others. So, I decided to start volunteering and giving back to our music community through shifts with KEXP and KXSF radio. And wow, I’m so glad I did. The health benefits have been immediate.
If you've read this far, then you'll finally get to read the point of this post, which is, I'm starting a new music adventure by bringing Directions In Stereo to the radio. Starting tonight at 10pm and every Monday moving forward, I'll be hosting my own radio show on San Francisco Community Radio KXSF 102.5 FM.
If you've been to my monthly, then you know the formula, I'll be playing every genre and era of music connecting the past to the present, as well as, featuring new releases and local Bay Area bands. I'll eventually have interviews as well. It'll be a place to share music, experiences and make connections around the music we love, from San Francisco and beyond.
Tune in…
