Club Deluxe Mural
Let me just say right off the bat that it is ok to simultaneously feel sad from loss or shitty news and still celebrate the good you will find on any given day.
While it's becoming increasingly difficult to focus on my job as an artist or parent or partner during this hostile takeover of our country, it's even more important to find ways to resist on a local level and imagine a better world than what we are experiencing today. As a muralist who often creates art for public viewing, this is often what motivates me. Show up and make the hood look good.
The new crew at Club Deluxe broke ground last month on their legacy restoration project and, in doing so, erected a massive construction wall. What an amazing canvas! This inspired me to send a message over to Christian and pitch what I saw as an opportunity to temporarily make a positive impact on the neighborhood, as well as, to stir up some hype for the most important return of live music to the upper Haight.
As you've read on my feed many times, music is my life force. Its been there for me so many times when I needed it. So, I am very excited that Deluxe is returning and that I was able to show it some love while we patiently wait for its grand reopening. Congratulations Club Deluxe!
